World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Turkmenistan

UNHCR, together with the National Children's Fund of Turkmenistan and local authorities, organized soccer and other sports competitions between refugee and former refugee schoolchildren in the provinces of Lebap, Mary and Ahal.
An official WRD commemorative event was held in Ashgabat on 20 June and attended by representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations and UN Agencies. The gathering included speeches by UNHCR and the State Service of Turkmenistan for Registration of Foreign Citizens. The national orchestra SAZ then gave a classical concert.
