HISTORY; PURPOSE:
ZOA is a Christian organisation. The Christian faith – in which love, mercy and grace are highly valued – is the basic foundation of our work. However, we are not a missionary organisation. ZOA gives aid irrespective of faith, race or nationality.
ZOA-Refugee Care supports refugees, internally displaced (IDPs), returnees and others affected by conflict or natural disaster in their transition from instability and lack of basic needs towards a situation in which conditions enabling a process of structural development have been (re-)established.
ACTIVITIES:
In addition to carrying out emergency relief projects, ZOA Refugee Care implements rehabilitation programmes in Africa and Asia.
As for Africa: ZOA runs its own operations in Angola, Ethiopia, Sudan and Uganda, whereas in Kenya ZOA supports partner organizations. All of these countries have (had) to contend with chronic conflicts or influxes of refugees from neighbouring countries.
As for Asia ZOA has programmes in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
