UNHCR Records of the Central Registry

The Central Registry was responsible for the opening and routing of correspondence and for the filing of working papers and official records from 1951 to 1994. These records document the full range of UNHCR activities for nearly a half a century and as such provide an indispensable introduction to the work of the organization.

Subgroup: General Series: Relations with governments Registry Code: 1/9 (Registry, 1951-1970) Dates: 07-1966/11-1974 Extent: 30 cm of textual records Scope: Series documents general UNHCR relations with governments, including information about the government, arrangements for UNHCR missions to the country, and reports on refugee situations in the countries. Series includes information related to the refugee situation in the India/Pakistan sub-continent in the 1970's and contact with governments involved in the relief efforts. Date Notes: Most of the series is missing. The Registry classification scheme lists over 100 files for this series, but the Archives only has 16 files, most of which are related to the situation in the India/Pakistan sub-continent.
