UNHCR Records of the Central Registry

The Central Registry was responsible for the opening and routing of correspondence and for the filing of working papers and official records from 1951 to 1994. These records document the full range of UNHCR activities for nearly a half a century and as such provide an indispensable introduction to the work of the organization.

Subgroup: Protection Series: Children - Hungarian children Registry Code: 6/9/HUN (Registry, 1951-1970) Dates: 07-1956/06-1961 Extent: 27 cm of textual records Scope: Sub-series consists of memoranda and correspondence regarding policies and procedures for dealing with unaccompanied minors; reports on the legal situation of unaccompanied Hungarian children; reports on meetings with the Austrian and Yugoslav governments; statistics on numbers of cases cleared for movement (repatriation or resettlement); memoranda regarding Commissions established to investigate youth cases; and some correspondence regarding issuance of travel documents to minors.
