UNHCR Records of the Central Registry

The Central Registry was responsible for the opening and routing of correspondence and for the filing of working papers and official records from 1951 to 1994. These records document the full range of UNHCR activities for nearly a half a century and as such provide an indispensable introduction to the work of the organization.

Subgroup: Protection Series: Naturalization Registry Code: 6/12 (Registry, 1951-1970) Dates: 10-1951/08-1970 Extent: 28 cm of textual records Scope: Series consists of memoranda and correspondence regarding naturalization provisions, processes, and legislation in particular countries; copies of drafts of naturalization laws, and comments by UNHCR; reports on difficulties in naturalization of refugees in various countries; some statistics on numbers of people naturalized in specific countries, and occasionally separate statistics for numbers of refugees naturalized.
