BEIRUT, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) Visiting deputy UN secretary- general Jan Eliasson expressed Monday appreciation of Lebanon's support and assistance to the Syrian refugees, National News Agency reported.
After his meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Eliasson said "the United Nations is highly concerned in increasing support for Lebanon's efforts to receive the displaced Syrians."
The UN official said his visit is aimed at discussing the current situation in Lebanon and the region, and wished the Lebanese national dialogue all success, saying it is the sole means to bolster national unity.
He is expected to review some of the activities undertaken by the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon before returning to New York on Dec. 12.
