Displaced in Uganda: replacing despair with hope
In northern Uganda, a tentative peace has given people enough hope to move out of massive camps for the displaced. For more than a decade, the Lord's Resistance Army attacked targets in the north and abducted children to help fight its battles. The violence has scarred everyone in the region, but it has been especially hard for the abductees to go back home. (5:12)

Uganda: The Long Wait
For more than a decade, nearly two million people have been confined to camps in areas of northern Uganda where the rebel Lord's Resistance Army operates. With peace negotiations under way, the displaced are slowly returning to their homes and UNHCR is trying to help them restart their lives. (5:43)

Helping the internally displaced in Uganda
UNHCR has started to assist the almost 1.5 million internally displaced persons in northern Uganda. Forced to flee their homes more than a decade ago, the families are living in squalid conditions in camps. (4:05)
