Bridges in the four different cantons and linguistic areas of Switzerland (Fribourg, Lucerne, Brusio and Lavertezzo) were illuminated with the UNHCR logo and special messages by the acclaimed Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter. Media were given sneak previews of the light shows. Flyers were distributed with information about the illumination and UNHCR.

Government House in Vaduz, Liechtenstein and Geneva's famous "jet d'eau" fountain were lit in blue.
