UNHCR's four offices around Burundi organized a wide range of activities. These included football and basketball matches, a solidarity march, dances, songs and poetry.

In Gasorwe Refugee Camp, several cultural activities were performed. Groups danced and played music, while acrobats and theatre troupes also took part in the celebrations. Thousands of people attended and national radio aired the event. An essay competition was held for camp-based refugees.
