[1]At its 62nd plenary meeting, on 20 November 1989, the General Assembly, on the proposal of the Secretary-General,[2] elected Mr. Thorvald STOLTENBERG as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for a four-year term of office beginning on 1 January 1990.
