Orphaned by War

Hala was playing in the garden when the bomb fell.
She and her siblings tells their heart-wrenching story to UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie.
30 March 2014
Ten-year-old twins Rahaf and Mourhaf take UNHCR's Special Envoy on a tour of their settlement in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.

Hala and her five siblings are some of the many Syrians orphaned by the war at home. Now 11, Hala and one of her brothers were playing in their garden two years ago when their neighbourhood was bombed, destroying their home, killing their mother and forcing them to flee to Lebanon. They think that their father, who was last seen in Syria, is most likely dead.

In this video, Hala and her siblings share their story with a UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie.
