Number of students: 1,779

Male/Female ratio: 59.4 percent male, 40.6 percent female

Countries of study: DAFI students enrolled in courses in 34 countries.

Countries of origin: Refugees on DAFI courses came from 32 countries.

Length of studies: Between three and four years

Main study subjects: Commercial and Business Administration, Social and Behavioural Science, Development Studies and International Relations, Mathematics and Computer Science, Medical Science and Health Related Subjects, Education Science and Teacher Training, Natural Science, Humanities, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law.

In 2008, the following countries were participating in the programme:

In Africa: Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritania, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

In Asia: India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Tajikistan.

In the Americas: Ecuador and Panama.

In Europe: Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Russian Federation.

In the Middle East: Jordan, Syria and Yemen.
