Tragic death of President Trajkovski
This is a summary of what was said by UNHCR spokesperson Ron Redmond – to whom quoted text may be attributed – at the press briefing, on 27 February 2004, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
The High Commissioner and UNHCR staff were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death yesterday of President Boris Trajkovski of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
UNHCR has worked very closely with President Trajkovski over the past years and the High Commissioner recently met with him here in Geneva. He was a true friend of UNHCR and our work on behalf of refugees and the displaced, and will be deeply missed. The High Commissioner extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of President Trajkovski and the members of his delegation, and to the people of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
