No information on the treatment of people of Portuguese and mixed Portuguese and African origin could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. Please note that sources state that Europeans account for only 1 per cent of the population in Angola and mestizo (mixed European and Native African), 2 per cent (PoliSci.com Mar. 1999; The World Fact Book 2000 2000). An information sheet on Angola produced by the Swiss Office fédéral des réfugiés (ODR) states that there are several thousand European and mestizo people in the country (Nov. 1999).
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
