Information in addition to that found in GHA29736.E of 24 July 1998 regarding certified copies of entries in the Register of Births is limited.

An article by The Ghanaian Chronicle regarding a "smear campaign" against the Omanhene in Bekwai, made reference to the chief's wife who allegedly has "a certified copy at Register of Births Certificate dated 25th October 2000 and signed by Samuel Pedro Ankrah" (23-26 Mar. 2001).

In a telephone interview, an official at the Ghana High Commission, in Ottawa, provided the following information regarding two certified copies of entries in the Register of Births that she had in her possession. The first copy, issued in the Western Region and dated September 1998, carries the signature of Samuel Pedro Ankrah (Ghana 10 Mar. 2003). The second copy, issued in Accra and dated June 1999, carries the signature of Exonam Aku Agyaton-Ntrapa (ibid.).

Information on the Regional Registrar of Births and Deaths in Bubuashie and in the Tema district could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

For a recent description of the Certified Copy of Entry into Registry of Births, including its colour, size and seals please consult GHA39968.E of 20 September 2002.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints.
