Seventeen dead, scores injured in Myanmar blast

December 29, 2011

An explosion in Myanmar's biggest city, Yangon, has left at least 17 people dead and 80 others injured.

Police were not sure what caused the blast.

Reports suggested the blast happened in or near a warehouse.

Witnesses reportedly heard one large explosion followed by several smaller ones.

Firefighters were on the scene to battle the fire from the blast.
