The IDP Working Group ( WG) was established in 2002 by United Nations agencies with the joint chairmanship of UN OCHA and UNHCR. Initial members included UNDP and OHCHR as well as the non-UN members IFRC, NRC, DRC and Group 484. Later in the process OSCE joined the WG. The Working Group brought together international, regional and local organisations that had long been assisting refugees, IDPs and other vulnerable persons particularly affected by the conflict in the region. It provided a forum for sharing experiences and coordinating strategies and programmes for beneficiaries. The present study is a collaborative initiative by the Working Group. The Working Group bases their analysis and findings on the previous research and experience of its member organisations as documented in their publications cited throughout. |
