St. Lucia: Situation and treatment of homosexuals and bisexuals

Sources indicate that as of 1998, the last year for which information is available, homosexuality was illegal in St. Lucia, both for men and women (ILGA Bulletin July-Sept. 1998, 10; ILGA 1998; IGLHRC n.d.; The Third Pink Book 1993, 260). The Third Pink Book, which surveys the situation of homosexuals around the world, states that "homosexuals are often subjected to official and police harassment and violence" in St. Lucia (ibid.). With regard to perceptions of homosexuality among the general populace, the same source states that "there is no visible support for gay and lesbian rights" in St. Lucia (ibid.).

Additional and/or corroborating information could not be found among the sources consulted.
