Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao): Whether Curaçao has a refugee programme or refugee determination system

According to information provided by a consular officer from the Netherlands Embassy in Washington, DC, during a 2 October 2003 telephone interview, the Netherlands Antilles do not have a separate or autonomous refugee determination system or refugee programme: refugee and asylum matters are handled by the central government of the Netherlands.

Information on the asylum system of the Netherlands can be found in NLD32558.E of 10 August 1999 and earlier Responses. However, the most current and detailed information on asylum in the Netherlands, which includes procedures to be followed by applicants and authorities, can be found on the Website of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) of the Ministry of Justice of the Netherlands at <http://www.immigratiedienst.nl/>.
