For information on the right to Colombian citizenship for children born of Colombian parents, please refer to ZZZ40198.E of 1 of November 2002. No changes to the Colombian constitution or legislation related to this right could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
According to information provided by a consular official at the Embassy of Colombia in Ottawa, during a 1 December 2003 telephone interview, there have been no recent changes affecting the right to dual citizenship allowed by the 1991 constitution, nor to the right to Colombian citizenship for children of a Colombian parent.
