Information on the above-mentioned topic could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. Cazengo is a district located in the province of Kwanza Norte (OCHA 25 Apr. 2000), and the Research Directorate was only able to find two sources that made reference to this district.

In January 1993, one news source stated that "[t]he greatest unrest was at Cazenga, where homes of Zaireans and 'Bakongo' from northern Angola were pillaged" (AFP 23 Jan. 1993), but the article did not state whether UNITA was responsible for this unrest. Another news source stated that UNITA had planted a bomb in Cazenga on 17 September 1993, and a mine on 11 October 1993 (Televisao Popular de Angola 17 Dec. 1993).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
