Brazil: Information on the treatment of Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) members or organizers by police, military and/or government

 

Please find attached some documents that provide information related to this subject.

According to Amnesty International Urgent Action, Antonio Rodrigues de Amorim, former parliamentary candidate of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) and president of the Rural Workers Union of Taua, has received death threats, and an attempt was made on his life (22 July 1991). Notimex reported that a representative of the PT for Sao Paolo by the name of Dirceau, has received anonymous threats (30 June 1992).

A recent report from Rio de Janeiro Rede Globo Television states that the Worker's Party or Partidos dos Trabalhadores is leading elections in six capitals, including Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Goiania (4 Oct. 1992).
