Djibouti: Information on the implementation of the agreement signed on 26 December 1994 between the government and the Front for the Restoration of Unity and Democracy (FRUD), on Mr. Dini's supporters involvement in the implementation of this agreement and on the treatment of Mr. Dini's supporters by the authorities

According to a report in the March-April 1995 issue of The Horn of Africa Bulletin, 300 former fighters of the Front for the Restoration of Unity and Democracy (FRUD) have been incorporated into the Djibouti regular army, in accordance with the December 1994 peace agreement between the FRUD and the government of Djibouti. Two other reports state that FRUD members have been appointed to the government of President Hassan Gouled Aptidon as part of the December peace agreement (The Horn of Africa Bulletin 9 June 1995, 4; AFP 8 June 1995). Information on the treatment of dissident FRUD members by the authorities could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
