Information on this subject is contained in the Response to Information Request JAM13905 of 19 April 1993, which is available in the REFINFO database. The US Department of State's Country Reports for 1992 states that the number of reports of violence against women increased in 1992. In 1991, there were 1,191 reports, up from 1,006 the previous year (1993, 439). Sources in Jamaica have been contacted, and information on the above subject is expected to arrive by 15 November 1993.
