Kenya: The status under Kenyan law of a non-Kenyan man married to a woman who is a Kenyan citizen, particularly regarding residence rights and citizenship
An official at the High Commission for the Republic of Kenya in Ottawa stated that for a non-Kenyan man, marriage to a Kenyan woman "does not guarantee him the right to citizenship, work or residence" (30 Mar., 31 Mar. 2000).
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
