Libya: Status (permanent residency, temporary residency, citizenship, etc.) available to Iraqi health professional accredited by Lybian government who worked in Lybia for an extended period of time

During a telephone interview on 23 May 2001, a professor of Political Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio who specializes on Libya stated that Foreign residents who are working in Lybia receive a renewable work visa. He added that he has never heard of a case of a foreign resident, either Arab or non-Arab, obtaining Libyan citizenship.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints.
