Libya: Penalty/consequences, if any, for foreign resident who is found to have alcohol in his home

A professor of Political Science at the University of Texas at San Antonio who specializes on Lybia stated that alcohol is not allowed in Lybia, it is illegal. The penalties for being found with alcohol at home could vary from imprisonment to a fine. Application of the law depends on the officer who finds out about the infraction. It could be easier for a foreign resident to avoid punishment. If the foreign resident is Muslim, it might be more difficult.
