Rwanda: Information on the "PC" passport type

In 24 and 27 January 2005 telephone interviews, the Ambassador of Rwanda in Ottawa provided the following information.

There are three types of Rwandan passports: regular passports, diplomatic passports and service passports. The "PC" acronym which is found in the top left corner of the passport, besides the photo, is used to identify a regular passport, which is also called a personal passport or an ordinary passport ("passeport courant" in French).

No corroboration of this information could be found among the other sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection.
