During a telephone interview with the DIRB (11 March 1993), a librarian at External Affairs and International Trade (EAITC) confirmed that Major General Bakri Elmak Musa is listed in the EAITC publication Diplomatic, Consular, and other Representatives in Canada as Sudan's military attaché accredited to the United States for 1986 and 1987. According to an article which was published by the BBC Summary of World Broadcasts (3 July 1989), Major General Bakri al-Malik Musa is one of the senior officers who were ordered to retire from the armed forces effective 30 June 1989 by a decree issued by the Revolutionary Command Council (RCC) for National Salvation. It is not clear from the article, however, whether Major General Bakri al-Malik Musa is the same person as Major General Bakri Elmak Musa. Information on allegations of corruption against Major Bakri Musa could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB.
