Suriname/Guyana: Update to GUY11907 of 26 October 1992 and SUR9870 of 12 December 1991 on whether a person can have dual citizenship in Guyana and Suriname
According to an official at the Guyana Consulate General in Toronto, Guyanese nationals who obtain citizenship from another country do not lose their Guyanese citizenship, unless the other country requires this. Guyana recognizes dual citizenship with all other countries without exception (9 Nov. 2001).
According to an official at the Suriname Consulate in Miami, Suriname requires that its citizens abandon all other citizenship, without exception (6 Dec. 2001). From the Surinamese perspective, it would be impossible to have citizenship in both Suriname and Guyana (ibid.).
