Syria: Treatment of persons who refuse to join the Ba'ath Party when asked to do so by party representatives

Information on the treatment of those who refuse to join the Ba'ath Party when asked to do so by party representatives could not be found among the documentary sources consulted by the Research Directorate within time constraints. Moreover, a representative from the New York office of Human Rights Watch said that they had "no current information" on the situation of those who refuse to join the Ba'ath Party in Syria (11 Mar. 2003).

This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
