U.S. Committee for Refugees World Refugee Survey 2004 - Suriname

About 30 people sought asylum from Suriname in North America in 2003. No refugees were reported in Suriname but the government has no refugee status determination process. Asylum seekers were to be screened by the UN Development Programme office in Suriname and referred to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees' office in Venezuela. UNHCR seeks to have the government establish a process.
