Libya: Identity cards for Libyan citizens
According to a counsellor at the Permanent Mission of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to the United Nations in New York, Libya does issue identity cards to its citizens (8 Jan. 1999). He stated that they are in the form of a card and not a booklet, but was unable to provide a more complete current description.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
