Top countries of origin
The listing of top countries of origin, for mandate RSD by UNHCR and for Government RSD, as displayed on the homepage of this website, is based on the overview "Applications and refugee status determination by origin, 2008", as supplied by UNHCR's Field Information and Coordination Support Section (FICSS) in the 2008 Annual Statistical Report.
The listing of top countries of origin, for both mandate RSD by UNHCR and Government RSD, excludes countries where RSD is conducted jointly by UNHCR and the Government. It is sorted by total number of new applications submitted. Data generally refer to first instance level in the asylum procedure, and are a combination of persons and cases. The listing reflects the status as of 12 June 2009.
Composition of regions
The composition of regions, as displayed on the homepage of this website, and on the "Regions" menu, is based on the "Standard Country and Area Codes Classifications" by the United Nations Statistics Division.
