Australia: Refugee Review Tribunal

The Refugee Review Tribunal is a merits review body established under the Migration Act 1958 and its jurisdiction, powers and statutory procedures are set out in that Act and the Migration Regulations 1994. The Tribunal's main function is to review decisions made by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to refuse or cancel protections visas to non-citizens in Australia. The Tribunal also has the power, in respect of certain 'transitory persons', to conduct an assessment of whether a person is covered by the definition of a 'refugee' in Article 1A of the Refugees Convention as amended by the Protocol. Website: www.rrt.gov.au/
