Pakistan: Treatment of UNHCR refugees since 1990

Information on the treatment by the authorities of UNHCR refugees could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. Please note that as of 31 December 1997 Pakistan was not a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention or the 1967 Protocol (UN Feb. 1998, 9).

The Research Directorate's request for information to the UNHCR office in Ottawa has been forwarded to the UNHCR office in Pakistan.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
