Barbados: Information on the legal age for getting married

During a 10 June 1997 telephone interview, a representative of the High Commission for Barbados in Ottawa indicated that the legal age for getting married in Barbados is 18. However, the representative added that a person can get married at age 16 if he/she provides to the legal authority written parental consent.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
