Congo: List of persons executed in October 1997 by Denis Sassou Nguesso's forces, including those who occupied positions in Lissouba's government
A list of persons executed in October 1997 by Denis Sassou-Nguesso's forces could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. A letter requesting that list was mailed to the Fédération internationale des ligues des droits de l'homme (FIDH) in Paris on 5 August 1998. To date, no response has been received by the Research Directorate. The FIDH has provided in its 11-25 December 1997 Lettre hebdomadaire de la FIDH, information on the summarily executions of some persons by Denis Sassou-Nguesso's forces in October 1997, including those who participated in Pascal Lissouba's government, without giving their names.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
