Dominican Republic: Information on the Student Leadership of the Flauvio Suero Student Front (Dirigente Estudiantil del Frente Estudiantil Flauvio Suero - DS-FEFS)

Information on the Student Leadership of the Flauvio Suero Student Front (Dirigente Estudiantil del Frente Estudiantil Flauvio Suero, DS-FEFS) could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB. However, a single documentary reference was found on an organization called the Flavio Suero Students' Front (Frente Estudiantil Flavio Suero, FEFS). The group was represented by Aquiles Castro at a October 1987 youth congress in Albania (BBC Summary 28 Oct. 1987). In an 18 March 1997 telephone interview, a representative of the Dominican Workers' Party (Partido de los Trabajadores Dominicanos, PTD) stated that FEFS is a leftist group mostly comprised of students and alumni from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. The source was not aware of the number of members in this organization nor whether the group had an affiliation to any political party.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
