| Comments | A law to amend and consolidate the laws relating to aliens and immigration. This law repeals: 1949 Cap.40, 19 of 150 and 11 of 1951. The Aliens and Immigration Act was introduced during the British Colonial era by Law 13 of 1952, on 19 June 1952. Its first amendment was introduced by Law 18 of 1956. Upon Independence in 1960, the Act was given the Chapter Number (Cap.) 105. Since then, several amendments came into force, namely Laws 2 of 1972, 54 of 1976, 50 of 1988, 197 of 1989, 100 (I) of 1996, 43 (I) of 1997, 14 (I) of 1998, 22 (I) of 2000, 164 (I) of 2001 and lastly 88 (I) of 2002. The Aliens and Immigration Act, as it now stands with all the above-mentioned amendments, consists of 21 Articles (1 -21) and a Memorandum on Special Provisions for granting permission to pupils or students, notwithstanding that this numbering includes Articles 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, 14A, 14B, 14C and 16A. |
