| Comments | The Penal Code of 1957 was published in a separate volume appearing as Extraordinary Issue No.1 of 1957 of the Negarit Gazeta, and came into force on the 5 May 1958. It was subsequently repealed by the Criminal Code of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia 2004, as of 9 May 2005. Adopted by Eritrea at independence, the 1957 Penal Code is still in force and is referred to as Eritrean Transitional Penal Code. |
