Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Citizenship) Order, 1962

In exercise of powers conferred by Section 7 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of 1955), the Central Government hereby makes the following order, namely:

1.

This Order may be called the Dadra and Nagar Haveli (Citizenship) Order, 1962.

2.

Every person who immediately before the 11th day of August, 1961, had his domicile in the territory now comprised in the Union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and-

(a)who has born in that territory; or

(b)who has been ordinarily resident in that territory for not less than two years immediately preceding that day, shall be deemed to have become a citizen of India on that day.
