The Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner (ORAC) has long recognised Refworld as an essential tool in making refugee status determinations and ensures that Refworld is readily available to every member of staff on the desktop of their p.c. Refworld has become a key support to making decisions on asylum applications because it provides quick access to comprehensive country of origin and legal information which saves caseworkers time and expedites the process. The reaction of caseworkers and decision makers to the temporary unavailability of Refworld for a couple of days during a recent upgrade to our information systems brought home to us how heavily Refworld is used in ORAC and its importance to the work of the office.

Finding the right information today is a challenge which Refworld helps us surmount.

The Refworld CD-Rom furnishes my research with imperative information I did not know existed before starting using it. It is a valuable and easy-to-use tool to have in the office as well as in the field, both for comparative and case-specific research.

Refworld is an excellent, indeed indispensable resource. It is an essential tool for researchers, students, instructors, policy- and decision-makers, and I have no hesitation in recommending it for acquisition and that it should be disseminated as widely as possible.
