&BLURB=Sport breaks down social barriers and helps social integration. It is also a good way for the 40,000 to 50,000 young refugees in Dadaab camp to channel their energy through collective activities. It teaches them team-building, conflict-resolution and gives them something to look forward to.
For refugee girls in particular, sport offers them freedom without fear and motivates them to attend school. At Dadaab, Nike presented them with different designs for their sports uniform and asked them to vote on their favourite. It also taught them how to make the uniforms so that they can make the same outfits for themselves long after the Nike team has gone.
