&FILE=/video/somaliland.swf&TIME=270&TITLE=Refugees return to Somaliland &BLURB=UNHCR follows a convoy of Somali refugees as they prepare to go home after spending as many as 16 years in Ethiopia's Aisha camp. First, they dismantle their homes in the camp, taking their doors and window frames with them. They also receive a small travel grant, food rations and relief items to help them restart their lives back in Somaliland, north-western Somalia. The excited refugees load their belongings onto the trucks in the cool of the night, and depart at dawn. Hundreds of thousands of Somali refugees have returned to Somaliland either with UNHCR assistance or on their own. But their home areas are poor and devastated by war. To cope with the returns, Somaliland ministers and refugees alike have appealed to the international community to help set up basic infrastructure and to contribute towards the country's recovery.
