Each study, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/statistics-refugee-numbers-highest-ever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one by <\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">UNHCR and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.worldbank.org\/developmenttalk\/refugees-average-duration-exile-going-down-why-bad-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one by the World Bank<\/a>,<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> despite different methodologies and focus, reach the same conclusion: <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The number of refugees has skyrocketed globally over the last few years and has reached with 3,5 refugees per 1,000 persons the peak levels last seen in the early 1990s.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two recent studies, undertaken independently from each other, address the statistical debate on whether indeed today\u2019s refugee population is the highest on record since World War Two.
