{"id":1807,"date":"2019-12-17T12:34:10","date_gmt":"2019-12-17T12:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/?p=1807"},"modified":"2019-12-20T16:23:20","modified_gmt":"2019-12-20T16:23:20","slug":"unhcr-launches-new-data-transformation-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/unhcr-launches-new-data-transformation-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"UNHCR launches new Data Transformation Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In today\u2019s global environment, UNHCR\u2019s strategic generation and use of data on forcibly displaced and stateless populations<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>are vital in positioning and validating UNHCR\u2019s role and actions and to affirm its capacity and authority to protect, assist and provide solutions to refugees, asylum-seekers and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/who-we-help.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">populations of concern<\/a> to the organization.<\/p>\n<p>To this extent and as part of a wider organizational transformation, UNHCR is pleased to share its new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/5dc2e4734.pdf\"><strong>Data Transformation Strategy 2020-2025<\/strong><\/a>. The strategy is a first step towards strengthening UNHCR\u2019s role as a leading authority on data and information relating to forcibly displaced and stateless populations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1809\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2019\/12\/RF2236645_2019_05_08_Gorom_GDT_rollout_ES-4260-720x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2019\/12\/RF2236645_2019_05_08_Gorom_GDT_rollout_ES-4260-720x480.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2019\/12\/RF2236645_2019_05_08_Gorom_GDT_rollout_ES-4260-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2019\/12\/RF2236645_2019_05_08_Gorom_GDT_rollout_ES-4260-1360x907.jpg 1360w, https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2019\/12\/RF2236645_2019_05_08_Gorom_GDT_rollout_ES-4260-1080x720.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Strategy provides UNHCR\u2019s vision, priorities, and key actions that will be undertaken to enhance strategic and responsible use of timely, quality data and information with the aim of further strengthening UNHCR\u2019s role as a data-driven organization and a center of excellence for refugee, statelessness and forced displacement data.<\/p>\n<p>Data is a game-changer for informing policy and practice and UNHCR\u2019s contributions will generate better and more powerful data and evidence on the circumstances of forcibly displaced populations. Achieving this role is dependent on boosting data collection, management and analytical capacities.
