Ricky Kej is a multi-Grammy Award-winning Indian music composer, humanitarian, and environmentalist. His vast repertoire of work includes 16 studio albums released internationally, over 3500 commercials, and 4 feature films, including the natural history documentary ‘Wild Karnataka’ narrated by Sit David Attenborough.
Ricky has won more than 100 music awards in over 20 countries and has also been awarded the ‘United Nations Global Humanitarian Artist’ in 2016. In addition to his musical accolades, Ricky Kej has also made significant contributions to several humanitarian and philanthropic causes.
In 2020, Ricky collaborated with UNHCR and UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) to release the song “Shine Your Light”. The song was a collaboration between Indian artists and refugee artists who were persecuted for their love of music. The song was performed in four different languages (English, Dari, Farsi, and Pashto) by 24 young refugee musicians living in India, inviting listeners to celebrate humanity, togetherness, and solidarity.
In 2022, on India’s 75th Independence Day, Ricky brought together 12 refugees from 4 nationalities to record a rendition of India’s national anthem as a tribute to India, which has provided safety, shelter and a home for them.
Ricky Kej was announced as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador on 6th December 2022. In this role he hopes to share the experiences and talent of young refugee musicians to advocate for greater support and offer hope to refugees around the world.
