“This is the most urgent story of our time…..millions of families forced to flee.

Too often it’s a story of unspeakable horror, fear and loss, but also a story of great courage and survival.”

About Juanes

Colombian singer Juanes has been supporting UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency since 2005, raising awareness and funds for the millions of people in his own country who have been forcibly displaced by decades of conflict. In a powerful radio appeal in 2013, he called on refugees and internally displaced people to register their children and help them to access their rights, including education and health care.

Juanes also highlights the work of UNHCR around the world, supporting key events and campaigns, including World Refugee Day and the Nansen Refugee Award where he performed live in 2011. Through his popular social media platforms, he has also inspired his fans to support our response to the crisis in Syria. In 2016, Juanes supported UNHCR’s #WithRefugees campaign on social media, and participated in the multi-voice film for the campaign.

Alongside ongoing social media support for the displaced, in 2020 Juanes featured in a special song Pasarán with Spanish hip hop singer Nach for World Refugee Day 2020. The videoclip has a special solidarity focus on refugees and forced displacement worldwide, and contains UNHCR footage.
