About the partnership
Locations: UNHCR’s European refugee crisis response 2015 and education programmes in Rwanda, Uganda, Malaysia, Chad, Kenya, Pakistan, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Ethiopia, Yemen and Iran
H&M Foundation made a donation to help UNHCR provide school supplies for refugee children in 12 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, generating a total US$3.4 million.
In all, the partnership has provided over 500,000 children with the school materials they need to get a primary education.
H&M Foundation was one of the main sponsors of the TEDxKakumaCamp event, the world’s first TED-talk in a refugee camp, with and for refugees. The Foundation’s staff travelled to the event in Kenya’s Kakuma camp in June 2018 to listen to the speakers and visited one of their education programme’s schools.
